Join us in the gardens for a tea tasting and workshop. John Wetzel, Owner of Stone Leaf Teahouse of Middlebury, will be leading a talk on Camellia sinensis, the primary plant used for tea. We'll taste fresh tea imported from around the world, along with local herbs that blend well with green, black, white, & other tea. Horsford's Lead Gardener Sophie Steck will educate about the florals, herbs, and botanicals you can grow in Vermont's climate to pair with Camellia sinensis.
This workshop will be held outdoors in Horsford's botanical gardens. There is an open-air, historic barn with seating in case of bad weather.
About the workshop leaders:
John Wetzel, Owner of Stone Leaf Teahouse in Middlebury, Vermont has been sourcing loose leaf tea from around the world since 2009. Stone Leaf Teahouse sources teas fresh, buying the best harvests often multiple times a year, forging connections between the tea drinker to the tea garden.
Sophie Steck is the Lead Gardener at Horsford Gardens and Nursery. She maintains the 17 thematic gardens around the nursery for customers to find inspiration in plant compatibility, growth habits, color combinations and how plants evolve over the season.
