Canaan fir is a naturally occurring variety of balsam fir that performs well in heavier soils. It is perhaps the most adaptable of our native East coast firs. It also breaks bud later than balsam and fraser firs, which means it is less susceptible to late spring frosts. Good for mixing into evergreen screens and makes a great Christmas tree! Provides shelter and food for birds and other wildlife.
