The Red Spy Apple Tree is originally from New York in the 1800's. It is similar to the Northern Spy variety, but the fruit is redder in color with bright stripes. Cold hardy up to -30° F. The Red Spy grows well in most soils, with the exception of poorly drained and overly moist locations. This particular variety requires a pollinator in order to produce fruit. It blooms in early April and produces fruit in August with a yield of up to 30-50 lbs. It's best for cooking and storing.
