With a dark green color and a flat-topped spreading habit that builds up in horizontal layers, this attractive dwarf conifer is a favorite for good reason. Adds an interesting form to the garden and is very easy to grow. Intermingles with other specimen evergreens well. Bright green color on new growth is appealing against the darker green of the previous years' growth. Often develops a slight depression in the middle as it ages, which is how it got its name.
