Bat House

Bat Habitat

$56.98

An often underappreciated creature, bats are essential to our ecosystem, yet five out of the nine bat species in Vermont are either threatened or endangered. Our local bats are insectivores, meaning they actively reduce the population of many pests in the state including mosquitos, corn borers, and cutworm moths. A brown bat can eat 600 mosquitos in an hour, and with a large enough population they can greatly reduce the need for agricultural pesticides. This handsome cedar bat house should be hung in a sunny location, 12 to 20 feet above the ground, and ideally have a water source nearby.
