This cultivar of the American persimmon was selected not only for the large, tasty fruit, which are almost double the average, but for the fact that they are produced much earlier, a boon for northern gardeners. Tolerant of pollution and clay soils. Persimmons are very adaptable to a wide variety of soils but they require a good amount of sunlight to thrive. May spread via clonal roots and form thickets. Very good tree species for wildlife.
