Star-shaped flowers of violet blue clusters bloom in mid-late spring on tall dark stems. The fern-like foliage is shaded in deep-purple which fades to green, green becoming more prominent with increased sun exposure. The lovely compact mounting habit is excellent for edging or rock gardens. This plant can thrive in average-medium soils, however can suffer if too exposed to the hot afternoon sun. Self-seeds readily, dead head spent flowers to prevent this, as well as encourage a late summer rebloom.
