A large multi-stemmed shrub or small tree native to many states in the Eastern/Central US. Endangered in Vermont. Brilliant display of white flowers in early spring followed by 1" red plums in summer. Fruit is eaten by wildlife and humans alike. Will fruit best in full sun and with a second plum nearby. Can be pollinated by a second Prunus americana or any American plum hybrid that blooms at the same time.
