Prunus pumila is a tough, hardy shrub native to the northeast and great lakes regions. 'Jade Parade' is a hybrid of two subspecies (Prunus pumila var. depressa and P. p. var. susquehanae ) that brings a fantastic array of attributes to the garden. Fragrant flowers start the show in spring to the delight of pollinators and people alike. The attractive foliage is clean, and disease resistant and the branching structure is layered horizontally. Black fruit develops in late summer and is good food for birds. The fall foliage is a vivid orange-red. Drought and salt tolerant once established.
