Sambucus racemosa

Red Elderberry

Ordering plants has concluded for the season. The selection on our website is what is overwintered at the nursery. Our Spring 2023 plant catalog will be available later this winter.

An interesting native shrub often found in moist woodlands. Green and purple buds reveal clusters of small cream-white flowers in late spring. Panicles of red fruit are adored by wildlife. A very fine plant for naturalizing along the edge the woods. Adaptable to shady locations but best flowering occurs with more sunlight.
